The First Five Years: Lived Experiences and Strategies of New Faculty

In this session, early-career faculty will share their lived experiences, lessons learned, and strategies that promote success and work-life balance. Topics may include assumptions prior to becoming a faculty, time and project management strategies (successes and failures), balancing work responsibilities (successes and failures), and future goals.

Effective Teaching & Productive Research: A Twenty-Year Reflection

What strategies are best to facilitate effective teaching as well as productive research or publications?

In this session, Dr. Iin Handayani, Professor of Agriculture, will highlight her experiences in creating effective teaching while maintaining a productive research agenda. She will also share her best practices on balancing between teaching and doing research. Participants will also be given the opportunity to share relevant experiences or best practices and ask questions about effective teaching and how to be a productive scholar.

Interpreting and Leveraging Student Ratings for Impactful Teaching and Learning

This virtual session will focus intensively on the interpretation of student ratings from teaching evaluations, and specifically how faculty can leverage this feedback to make impactful improvements in their teaching practices. The goal is to empower faculty with the tools and strategies to extract meaningful insights from student evaluations, thereby fostering enhanced pedagogical methods, improved student engagement, and a rich learning environment for all.
