Using Scaffolding to Enhance Students Self-Efficacy on Long-Term Projects

In this interview, Dr. Firm Faith Watson will be conversing with Dr. Amanda Joyce, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Murray State University. Dr. Joyce is a developmental psychologist who studies early childhood cognitive development as well as contributors to college student success. She teaches courses in Lifespan Development, Child Development, Adolescent Development, Aging, Research Methods, General Psychology, and more.

Using Guided Inquiry to Facilitate Learning in Online Environments

In this interview, Dr. Firm Faith Watson will be conversing with Dr. Alison Barton, Associate Professor in the College of Education and Faculty Fellow for the Center for Teaching Excellence at East Tennessee State University. Barton is one of the first twelve faculty to have been awarded an INtopFORM fellowship, a program designed to promote excellence in seeking, using, and communicating diverse and often complex information. Within the Clemmer College at East Tennessee State University, she serves as the coordinator for the EDFN program and as e-Learning Liaison, advising other faculty on the design and development of online courses. Additionally, she supports faculty by giving seminars on best teaching practices with a focus on integrating technology, as well as co-teaching a course for faculty on pedagogical strategies for teaching college-level courses. She has been awarded the College of Education's, as well as the university's Teaching Award, and is designated Online Master Teacher at the university. Her current research interests include college student adjustment, primarily regarding factors related to college student persistence, retention, and mental health outcomes.

Helping Students Cultivate a More Intentional Relationship to Writing

In this interview, Dr. Firm Faith Watson will be conversing with Dr. Debra Rudder Lohe, Director of the Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning at Saint Louis University. Dr. Rudder Lohe directs the Paul C. Reinert, S. J. Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning at Saint Louis University. She holds a doctorate in English literature from Washington University in St. Louis, where she served as director of the composition program and taught writing, literature, and gender studies courses. At SLU, she works to advance pedagogical innovations, interactive learning spaces, and a culture of reflection.

Learning by Drawing

Do you use drawing or art in your (non-art) classes? Do you have to be a great artist to use illustration effectively in the classroom? Do you think drawing can help your students learn? Curious to hear how other faculty are implementing drawing and art in their teaching?

Dr. Laura Sullivan-Beckers employs lots of colorful drawing in her biology classes and wants to brainstorm with other faculty about the use of illustration in multiple disciplines.

Participants will discuss experiences and share ideas. We will discuss what works well and what doesn't, as well as technology used to illustrate concepts during classes.

Escaping Zoom: Using Digital Escape Rooms for Assessment

In this session, you will learn about how a digital escape room can help you conduct formative assessments through classroom collaborations. Learn the pedagogy and the methods to implementing this student-driven form of assessment.
